A Cape Porpoise homeowner in an 1890s cottage was burning close to 1,100 gallons of oil per year in a house that is just under 1,800 sq. ft. Blower door testing found over 3,200 CFM50 of air leakage. The walls had no insulation. The attic had about R-9 of original fiberglass with no air sealing below it.
